If you could be a fly on the wall in the home of a new mother, you might see things that rarely make it into Christmas cards.
A mom, hair unwashed, dishes piled high, her baby crying in her arms. She still feels new in her recovery from an addiction and is holding on for her child, but she hasn’t eaten a proper meal in days. She feels like she might unravel at any moment.
Maybe it’s a mother who just moved. She has a toddler running laps, a newborn in her arms, and no family nearby. No one to call when she needs a break to recharge.
Or maybe it’s a mom with three other children and a partner who drifts in and out, never truly present. She’s exhausted, isolated, and doing her best to stay afloat – but the loneliness is taking a heavy toll on her mental, emotional, and physical health.
In homes like these, the presence of a Care For Women mentor can change everything. Because what these moms really need is:
A mentor to fold the laundry beside her.
To bring a warm meal to her table.
To hold her baby so she can shower.
To listen without judgement.
To pick up boxes of diapers when she can’t make ends meet.
These moments of practical, tangible connection are made possible through the generosity of people who choose to give a Christmas donation.

Why Give a Christmas Donation?
Christmas has a way of slowing us down – of helping us see what truly matters. Choosing to make a Christmas donation isn’t just about generosity; it’s about restoring hope.
For many donors, it’s a quiet way of saying, “You’re not alone. We see you. We’ve been there. You matter — and we want to help.”
This message lands deeply with mothers who feel forgotten in the blur of being constantly on survival-mode in their own homes, and within their own families.
You may never step into her kitchen or see her relief when a mentor arrives – but in a very real way, our donors are there. Every meal delivered, every phone call answered, every moment of calm – it all happens because someone like you said yes to supporting new mothers in our community.
Care For Women’s Our Annual Christmas Campaign
Many Canadians feel like the holidays add stress and chaos to already busy lives. Joyful as the holiday season is, it’s also a fact that mental health tends to dip during the winter months, and this can be especially true for mothers who already feel lonely and isolated in the postpartum months.
This is one of the reasons why, every December, Care For Women launches our Christmas Campaign – a heartfelt rallying of our community around vulnerable mothers.
Our families’ needs don’t end on December 25th, but the generosity of this season of giving helps mothers find their footing and hope again throughout the year, with the support of our Care For Women mentors.
Christmas donations have ripple effects that last long after the holidays fade.

How Care For Women Uses Christmas Donations
When you give to Care For Women at Christmas, your donation becomes so much more than a number.
It becomes:
- Meals for an exhausted mother recovering from childbirth.
- A cleaning service so she can rest and heal.
- A ride to a medical appointment she can’t miss.
- A mentor’s presence at her kitchen table when she’s ready to give up.
Our mentors are able to support moms in tangible ways, but also be present to help them check in with their mental health and emotional wellbeing over the holidays.
Your generosity also helps our team at Care For Women respond to the harder realities – such as addictions, poverty, and relational breakdowns that make postpartum even more fragile.
In these moments, your support becomes a bridge of stability for a mother and her baby – because with your donation, we can provide our mentors with more training to manage these big moments, bring more mentors onto the team to reach more households that are struggling, and offset families needs with a larger gift budget that will be truly impactful for the families we serve.

What Types of Christmas Donations Make a Difference
Every gift we receive – from our regular donors, to our one-time gift-givers, to our project-specific sponsors – matters to us, and to the women we serve. There are so many ways that you can help our team help mothers thrive. Here are some of the options:
- Financial donations – flexible and directed where they’re needed most.
- Gifts-in-kind – meals, cleaning services, or supplies offered through trusted partners.
- Event sponsorships – helping us host gatherings that strengthen our community of care.
Q: How do you make a Christmas donation to Care For Women?
A: You can make your contribution directly through our website Christmas Donation Page, or reach out to our team to discuss your options
Q: Does Care For Women accept gently used clothing, baby supplies, unused diapers, or other materials from the general public?
A: To protect the health and safety of our mothers (and to reduce our physical storage facilities), Care For Women currently does not accept donations of gently used clothing or other baby supplies. We recommend bringing donations of these types to places like Baby Go Round.
Q: How does Care For Women decide what Christmas donations money will be used for?
A: Each year, and after each fundraiser, our team at Care For Women sits down to analyze what’s working, which areas in our team need more financial support, what cities are we expanding into, and what our budget forecasts are for the coming months in terms of the number of mothers are who will be needing our support. We don’t have a brick and mortar office to keep our operating costs low so that we can reach more moms in need.
Q: Can I contribute to Care For Women in ways other than making a financial donation?
A: Absolutely! You can contribute to Care For Women by:
- Sharing our social media posts on your own online platforms to spread the word about our cause
- Sign up to become a mentor and help support real moms when they need your help the most
- Join us during our other fundraising efforts, such as our Annual Walk/Run that takes place each fall

Why Your Christmas Donation Should Go to Care For Women
Care For Women is a non-profit built on the simple idea that no mother should walk alone.
Our volunteer board of directors, mentors, and supporters contribute thousands of hours each year to sustain this work – and it takes that many hours to keep this work going year after year.
Many people choose to give donations at Christmas time. We know that many people only choose a small number of projects to donate to, and we sincerely hope you’ll choose Care For Women when you make your choice. Why?
Because supported mothers mean supported babies, which means stronger families, which means stronger communities.
This might feel like a one-time donation to you – but to our team and to the mothers we serve, your donation has a life-long ripple effect on the wellbeing and outcomes of families in our area.
Your generosity—whether through a Christmas donation, a monthly gift, or a one-time act of kindness—all help to make everything we do possible.
